Announcement
and Award Sites or Services
If you're proud of your site and
think it deserves special recognition, you should definitely submit it to some -
or all - of the sites below. If you do succeed in snagging one of these
prestigious awards, it will do wonders for your site's traffic. In any case,
you'll never know if your site has what it takes unless you try.
Announcement
and/or "What's New" Sites
What's Nu
A comprehensive announcement site that receives
thousands of new listings daily. Unlike other What's New sites that are
primarily directories, What's Nu provides access to listings via a search
engine, allowing you to search their database by keyword and category. They also
archive all listings, so once you register you'll be around for a long time. To
get the most out of your listing, use a title and description with keywords that
strongly relate to your site's topic, and make sure your topic strongly relates
to the category into which you submit your site. Submission Page: http://www.whatsnu.com/cgi-bin/addlink.cgi
What's New from Yahoo!
Daily picks are listed by title with
a one-line summary and archived with the What's New page. They offer weekly
picks as well at: http://yahoo.com/picks.
Winners of the weekly award are showcased in a feature article and archived for
easy browsing. You submit by sending an e-mail to: suggest-picks@yahoo-inc.com.
What's
New Too
This site has been around since the early
days of the Web. The directory is archived and searchable, so its definitely
worth adding your site to their listing. New announcements are posted within
36 hours of submission, and the list is updated daily. Submission page: http://newtoo.manifest.com/submit.html
Internet
News Bureau
Offers a
site announcement service for those who want to announce their website to the
media, but don't have the need (or perhaps the budget) to issue a full press
release. Send a one paragraph site description (50 words maximum), a hyperlinked
URL and a contact e-mail address. They are combined with no more than five
others into an e-mail digest. The cost is $55.00, as compared to $225.00
for the full Internet News Bureau press release service.
